The Ponseti Method is a way of correcting clubfeet, it is accepted worldwide as the gold standard of treatment. Nick is trained in this method, and works to share this knowledge in developing nations. He mentors local healthcare professionals so that the treatment can be available to children long after the ship has left port.
In 2025, the program Nick is leading will focus on techniques specific to treatment for older children with clubfeet. In countries with many obstacles in the way of timely care, it is not uncommon for children to be much older when they first receive treatment. This specific program is a follow up to a training that was completed with the same team 10 years ago when the Africa Mercy visited in 2015-2016. It's a joy to see them again!
